We are looking to recruit an energetic and self-motivated Demi Chef de Partie to assist in the preparation of food for clients under the supervision of the Chef de Partie/ Sous Chef and to train and mentor Commis Chefs.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist the Senior Sous Chef and the rest of the kitchen Brigade to ensure that the Company’s high standards of quality, and cleanliness are always maintained.
• Assist in service under guidance of the Chef de Partie, Chef Tournant, Sous Chef or the Executive Chef.
• Coach and mentor Commis Chefs to help them improve their skills, knowledge and ability.
• Keep high standards of personal hygiene, uniform cleanliness and cleanliness on workstation always.
• Assist in hygiene and cleanliness related duties as requested by Sous Chefs/ Executive Chef.
• Be fully aware and knowledgeable of all HACCP standards and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should:

• Be in possession of ITS Certificate in Food Preparation & Service or similar certification.
• Be in possession of an ECDL certificate.
• Have a good level of written and spoken English.
• Be able to work under pressure both in a team and own initiative.
• Have an eye for detail.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Shop Attendants are responsible for ensuring superior guest service and the distribution of ice cream and sale of chocolates. Assist customers in all their requirements, ensures that the stall is clean at all times and deals effectively with customers’ complaints. May reconcile daily cash takings and operates electronic point of sale equipment and accepts payment.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and serve ice cream, and chocolates for guests.
• Keep record of ice cream stock and stock of ingredients.
• Produce Ice Cream as per Venchi’s SOP.
• Clean and maintain in good functioning order all ice cream producing equipment and the ice-cream Laboratory.
• Knowledge of proper food handling techniques.
• Follows proper opening and closing procedures, including cleaning at the end of the shift.
• Ensure that counters, stall and equipment are always clean.
• Wipe down counters with the proper sanitation procedures throughout the day.
• Keep inventory stocked.
• Learn to properly operate till and handle money/credit cards/gift cards.
• Manage the cash data.
• Ensure the cash register is secured at all times.
• Maintain accuracy in the receiving and dispersing of cash from the customer ensuring cheques, credit card and other non-cash transactions are handled according to company policies and procedures.
• Physically replenish goods on display as per First In First Out procedure.

The Maintenance Operative is responsible to keep buildings in good running order by carrying out general repairs and maintenance activities

Responsibilities include:

• Painting walls.
• Repairing or re-building walls.
• Tiling.
• Undertaking small plumbing repairs and minor electrical tasks.
• Performing checks on security and fire appliances.
• Minor masonry work such as external walls or steps, laying slabs, and replacing glass.
• Inspect all community spaces daily to identify problems with litter, mechanical failure or breakdowns.
• Respond to tenants’ requests for maintenance services, including replacing air filters, installing new locks and troubleshooting smoke detectors.
• Repair plumbing, electrical and safety systems as required.

We are looking to recruit an energetic and self-motivated Station / Commis Waiter who will take orders and deliver food and beverages to customers in a friendly and professional manner that will provide an excellent overall dining experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Greet and escort customers to their tables.
• Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies).
• Prepare tables by setting up linen, silverware and glasses.
• Inform customers about the day’s specials.
• Offer menu recommendations upon request.
• Up-sell additional products when appropriate.
• Take accurate food and drinks orders, using a POS ordering software.
• Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff.
• Serve food and drink orders.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Respond and attend promptly to repair requests.
• Understand and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
• Check for new maintenance requests.
• Interpret readings from meters and gauges and other measuring units.
• Perform maintenance activities on various types of hardware & electrical equipment.
• Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment.
• Operate as an independent mechanic by analysing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
• Monitoring the fire alarm / life safety system systems as necessary, and to handle emergencies involving the systems.
• Maintaining the facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

PROFILE

The ideal candidate should:

• Have basic knowledge on air conditioners & HVAC.
• Hold Electrical License A.
• Be fluent in both written and spoken English.
• Be fully conversant with Microsoft Office.

We are currently recruiting for full-time Commis Chef to assist the Senior Chef on duty with storage, preparation and cooking of all food items for the Valletta Market, whilst adhering to all Health and Food Safety areas of “Due Diligence” as laid out by management. Demonstrate and help maintain high levels of service that consistently exceeds the expectations of our clients. The person chosen for this role will report directly to the Senior Sous Chef.

Responsibilities include:

• To assist and monitor food stocks and stock movement.
• To understand daily departmental costs and how they influence profit and loss results.
• To ensure minimum kitchen wastage.
• To learn and record skills and recipes from other members of the department.
• To follow the cleaning schedules for the kitchen and clean the section and other areas as directed.
• Accept store deliveries and ensure stock is controlled and rotated.
• To ensure that mis-en place is completed in the respective section.
• To immediately report any maintenance issues to the Executive Market Chef.
• To comply with all Company policies and procedures to ensure that all-statutory regulations are fully observed all times.

We are looking to recruit an energetic and self-motivated Food Market Manager who besides leading and managing the various food store teams, will also be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of stores including sales, customer service, quality control, operations, staff development and training.

Responsibilities include:

• Be accountable for the achievement of the store’s targets.
• Be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating with the General Manager and other departments to ensure efficient and profitable running of the stores.
• Be responsible to compile rosters to ensure that all labour costs are flexed according to levels of demand / activity / season and guarantee efficient and effective use of HR available.
• Maintain adequate stock on hand for all shelf and promotional items.
• Ensure that incoming and existing products are continuously checked for expiry date.
• Be responsible for Stock control policies and procedures, management of stock levels and accountable for stock control through stock takes.
• Be responsible for managing the food store order system and foods stores receiving system. Including the analysis of stock receiving and ordering processes. Recommend improvements.
• Review the store layout plans to satisfy business demands and sales needs and discuss with General Manager.
• Obtain optimum deals when negotiating with suppliers in terms of:
- price
- delivery times
- payment terms
- quality of goods
• Supervise quality control within the fresh food counters and monitor quantities for preparation to minimize wastage (Arkadia's fresh food counters), perform frequent checks to ensure consistent high standard of preparation and services and adherence to HACCP regulations (all fresh food counters).
• Responsible for Food Market opening and closing procedures.
• Analyse and interpret trends of business to facilitate planning.
• Review market trends and discuss with senior management.
• Analyse shelf space and propose improvements where opportune.
• Draw up performance reports on regularly basis and as and when required by Senior Manager

PROFILE

The ideal candidate must have:

• Have 2 to 3 years’ experience in running a supermarket or similar business.
• Have successfully completed their post-secondary level of education.
• Be in possession of an ECDL certificate and proficient in excel and word.
• Have a High level of written and spoken English.
• Be able to work on their own initiative, under pressure and have an eye for detail.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
